Quit Smoking Methods

If you smoke then the probability is that you want to quit as the majority of smokers do. It makes you wonder why so some many smokers even started in the first place if the habit's so unpopular amongst smokers themselves. With around 70% of smokers wanting to quit that means there's a huge market for quit smoking methods and smoking cessation products. Unfortunately that also means a huge market for scam products too. So be sure to be cautious when you come across a product that sounds to good to be true, because the chances are it probably is.

Here are some quit smoking methods that you could consider trying when you decide that you are ready to quit smoking.

Laser Therapy
Hypnosis (either with a therapist or through self hypnosis)
NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
Acupuncture
NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) such as patches or gum.
Doctor Prescribed Drugs
Cold Turkey
Herbal Medicine
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, a form of self acupressure)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Various Ebooks (these usually are NLP, CBT, Self Hypnosis etc)

That's quite a choice of quit smoking methods and in order to help you make your choice you should consider the following factors.

Cost : Will the money you save on cigarettes cover the cost of your smoking cessation therapy sessions or products. The chances are it probably will, if you're successful that is. Most of the methods listed above can easily have their costs met by the money saved from not buying cigarettes. Laser therapy can be costly however.

Belief: It's easier to be successful at something if you are confident right from the start that you can be successful. If something feels a bit too strange too you, then your skepticism could possibly undermine your success if you believe it's not going to work. This is more true for the techniques that require mental effort such as NLP, Hypnosis etc if where your opposing beliefs might contradict the messages your programming yourself with.

Be Prepared:Know what's in store for you before you start. Cold Turkey for instance is likely to have unpleasant side effects such as anxiety. Can you cope with that? If not maybe a different method would suit you better.

Is this your first attempt at quitting? If not, how did you manage to quit last time? If you managed to quit for any length of time, then why not try the same method again. Just be sure to substitute smoking with something else so that you don't lapse back into smoking again. Maybe working out in a gym perhaps. The more you get yourself back into shape the less likely you are to want to start smoking again.

Remember that no two people are the same, some quit smoking methods might not work for you but will work for somebody else. So if at first you don't succeed with one method, then try another. One method is bound to work for you. If you are finding it particularly hard then any method that changes your beliefs about smoking might be helpful, so consider hypnosis, EFT or NLP etc. Just don't give up, the rewards for quitting smoking are too good for that.
