Effective Ways To Quit Smoking.


When most people start smoking they do so thinking that they can just quit whenever they want.  But nicotine is highly addictive and once somebody has started smoking it can often be very difficult for them to quit.  Many people manage to quit smoking and so can you.  There are several effective ways to quit smoking that you can try.  You may however have to try more than one as not every method is effective for everyone.  It is common for people to quit several times before finally giving up for good.  Just don't give up.


The Goal

Why do you want to quit smoking? Is it for health reasons? Is it for money reasons? Is it just because you think it's a disgusting habit and you want to be rid of it once and for all? Whatever your reasons are, you need to keep these things in mind when trying any effective ways to quit smoking. When you're trying various ways to help yourself quit smoking, your mind will begin to play tricks on you. It will make you forget about your goals and will instead make you focus on just taking one more drag. Don't give in. Keep your goals in mind and this will help you kick this habit once and for all.

Reminders

One of effective ways to quit smoking is to post reminders all over your house. Put post it notes on your mirrors in your bathroom, put them on your fridge, on your front door, or anywhere else you know you'll look at them throughout the day. Put pictures of people with huge goiters on their necks or people with oxygen tanks to remind yourself what smoking can do to you. This will help you remember your goals and will keep your non smoking attempts at the forefront of your mind.

Ashtrays and Lighters

Other effective ways to quit smoking are to throw away all of your cigarettes and also all of your ashtrays and lighters. You don't want anything in your house, in your purse or even your car that are going to remind you of wanting to smoke.

Second Hand Smoke

Whilst trying to give up smoking you might find it more effective for a while to stay away from other smokers.  That might mean not going to places where people are likely to smoke.  With new laws banning smoking in public places this will be less of a problem than it used to be.  Being around other smokers whilst trying to give up will only make you more conscious of any withdrawal symptoms and increase you urge to light a cigarette.
